By Car

I-71, I-77, I-90, and Route 2 are the major systematic routes into downtown. I-77 can be quite busy all through the day, and traffic is weighty during the mornings and less in the evenings. All highways and roads are well signed and there are not too many thinner or one-sided streets. Streets and Downtown are in a row numbered; in the University Circle area, the other major tourist center, roads are rounded and it can be difficult to stay on track.

A good alternative is to park downtown and ride the Rapid Transit Authority's red line to University Circle. Metered parking is available in University Circle but it's difficult to find a spot. Parking garages are plenteous downtown. Depending on how soon you arrive. If you do find parking on the street, make sure to put enough money in the meter; meter maids are well-organized.
